The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven Blatz is the first play by Manitoba novelist Armin Wiebe.  CCTC Director Kim McCaw encountered the script as a visiting dramaturg at the Manitoba Association of Playwrights in 2009.

Synopsis     
A comic folk play with a classical music base, The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven Blatz follows a farm wife, a carpenter, a midwife, and a musician as they struggle to find fulfillment of their seemingly impossible wantings, drawing on the means at hand on a homestead removed from the stifling customs of the village.

Time: 1930s

Special Requirements:
Mennonite dialects, some German spoken; Blatz is a talented pianist who plays often over the course of the play.

Runs approximately 120 minutes, plus intermission.
